I Want to Smile Again!

Cosmetic dentistry focuses on improving the appearance of your mouth, teeth and smile. And although cosmetic dentistry procedures are usually elective, rather than essential, some cases of treatment also provide restorative benefits.

Technological advancements in natural-looking, tooth-colored dental materials make today’s cosmetic dental treatments more durable and predictable than in years past. Additionally, dentists are now using more conservative techniques to preserve as much of your natural tooth structure as possible, depending upon your specific clinical situation.

At South Coast Metro Center for Dentistry & Implants our team specializes in cosmetic procedures; whitening, orthodontics, Invisalign®, Clear Correct® and traditional braces, inlay and onlay, as well dental implants, grafting and full-mouth reconstruction.

Our Dentist Recommends Braces, but I Don't Want Metal in My Mouth

Dental braces help to align crooked teeth and misaligned bite, including overbite and underbite. It's important to know why you or your child may need braces. Because every smile is different, the time you will need to wear braces depends on the severity of a dental problem. All braces apply continuous pressure to slowly shift teeth into a beautiful smile.

One downside of traditional metal braces is discomfort and pain that can be caused by split wires, broken brackets or metal rubbing against the cheeks and gums.

Straight teeth and a revitalized smile may no longer need to come from a mouth full of unattractive wire and bracket braces. Invisible braces offer a more esthetic alternative, enhancing self-esteem and physical confidence.

Clear Aligners are the Best Alternative to Metal Braces

Clear aligners are one of the best available alternative to traditional metal braces. Clear aligners are made from a lightweight plastic offering easy removability, upkeep and comfort.

Like traditional braces, clear aligners shift natural teeth into the correct position. Best of all, they are custom-made from impressions of your teeth and can be removed by the patient to eat and drink. Clear aligners are ideal for patients who may be shy or embarrassed about receiving orthodontic treatment and for athletes, since they do not present the same injury risks as metal braces.

At South Coast Metro Center for Dentistry & Implants we offer the most advanced teeth straightening technology with Invisalign®. Our team of board certified orthodontist, doctors of dentistry, oral surgeons, cosmetic and restorative implant specialists will work with you to help you "Find Your Smile and Brighten Your World". I Have Moderate Tooth Decay, Do I Need a Filling or Crown?

Actually you don't need either. A Dental Inlay or Onlay will provide restoration to a moderately damaged or decayed tooth. An Inlay or Onlay is more extensive than a filling, but not as intense as a dental crown.

What makes Inlays and Onlays unique is that they are custom-made using impressions of the your teeth. This ensures that the best possible restoration is always provided to you.

Inlay: Inlays don't cover any of the tooth's exiting cusps or points.

Onlay: Onlays will cover one or more of the points, and it may even cover the tooth's entire chewing surface.

So which is better? Well, it all depends on what is needed to repair the damaged tooth. One thing for sure, Inlays and Onlays keep the structure of the tooth durable and intact and strengthen the tooth overall, which prevents the need for more extensive treatments in the future.

A tooth that has been restored with an Inlay or Onlay will have virtually the same appearance as any other healthy, natural tooth. The tooth's surface may feel somewhat different at first, but the tooth can be used in the same way as any other tooth. Patients should have no issue chewing food, talking or caring for their teeth.
