Did You Know that Half of the Adult Population Has Gum Disease?

Scaling and Root Planing

Laser Treatment

Bone Grafting

Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation

Periodontitis or gum disease is a condition that affects nearly half of all adults, and it can eventually lead to tooth loss if left untreated.

I don't know if I have gum inflammation or gum disease, how can I tell?

The term Gingivitis (gum inflammation) usually precedes periodontitis (gum disease). However, it is important to know that not all gingivitis progresses to periodontitis. In the early stage of gingivitis, bacteria in plaque builds up, causing the gums to become inflamed and to easily bleed during tooth brushing. The only way to know for sure is to have a thorough exam by our board certified team at South Coast Metro Center for Dentistry & Implants.

So if the problem continues, your gums will begin to retract and pull away from the teeth creating voids known as periodontal pockets, as shown in the diagram on the left. These pockets become a prime breeding ground for oral bacteria and unwanted build-up. If the pockets reach deeper the condition will eventually reach the jawbone and connective tissue of the teeth causing tooth loss. We offer treatment methods for every stage of gum disease:

  • Scaling and Root Planing

  • Gum Graft Surgery

  • Dental Crown Lengthening

  • Gingivectomy

  • Root Surface Debridement

  • Laser Treatment

  • Pocket Reduction

  • Osseous Surgery

  • Ridge Augmentation

  • Ridge Preservation

  • Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation

  • Sinus Lift

  • Bone Grafting

Gum disease is a very serious problem, and we encourage you to seek treatment. A visit to South Coast Metro Center for Dentistry & Implants will allow our board certified team of experts to properly determine if you are suffering from this issue.
